About the Artist

Rose Anahita Khorsandi is a performer and educator with a rich career as a flutist and piccolo player. She has performed extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as the Denver, Boston and Lincoln areas with orchestras, wind ensembles, flute choirs, jazz bands, chamber ensembles and as a soloist.

She has participated in festivals and masterclasses such as Rocky Ridge, Flauti al Castello, Panoramic Flutist, Credo Music Festival, and Wisconsin Flute Festival, learning from renowned flutists Bart Feller, Matthieu Gauci-Ancelin, Bonnie Boyd, and Joachim Becerra Thomsen, among others. 

Rose earned an MM from University of Nebraska, Lincoln with John Bailey. She earned a BM from University of Denver, studying with Julie Duncan Thornton. She has studied with Sooyun Kim at Longy School of Music and Monica Williams at Civic Arts Community Center.

Rose was a winner of the Joanne Khyl Memorial Scholarship Competition and recipient of the Edgren Fellowship, University of Denver Music Scholarship and Chancellor’s Scholarship and Longy Music Scholarship.

She has several years of experience teaching privately and as faculty at Camp Encore Coda, Walnut Creek Day Camp, El Sistema programs and iPlay. These organizations have helped Rose emphasize outreach and accessibility to music education, which she is very passionate about. 

​

Rose is currently researching the intersection between Persian music and western classical music with hopes to contribute to this body scholarship. She plans to continue her studies and earn a DMA and aspires to teach flute at a university level, as well as play flute in a professional orchestra.
